In Karnataka, Chief Minister Yeddyurappa is gearing up to stage another show of strength of the BJP government in the state before the Raj Bhavan in Bangalore this evening. Yeddyurappa had staged a similar parade of MLAs before the President at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday. AIR Bangalore correspondent reports that the BJP has sought time to meet the Governor, and the Governor has asked the delegation to meet him at 4.00 pm today. This will be the first meeting of Yeddyurappa with Governor Bhardwaj after the latter dispatched a special report to the Centre recommending imposition of President’s rule in the State.A two-page Press Communiqu’ issued by Raj Bhavan on Tuesdau in Bangalore, explained as to why the Governor recommended invoking of Article 356(1) on imposition of President's Rule in Karnataka. The Communiqu’ said, the recommendation was made after examining the judgment of the Supreme Court and its implications and the various other developments in the recent months. The Communiqu’ further substantiates that intervention is called for whenever there is breakdown of constitutional mechanism in the state. It states that ‘the actual breakdown is due to tampering with the composition of the Legislative Assembly in unconstitutional manner’ as mentioned by the Supreme Court verdict.Meanwhile, the agitation by the BJP to recall the Governor and the counter agitation by the Congress to sack the BJP Government has intensified in the state. On Tuesday the Congress organized protests charging the BJP of corruption and subversion of constitution to gain majority. The BJP on the other hand held ‘Governor hatao-democracy bachao’ agitation in all the district headquarters.
