Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Meena held a pre-Election meeting of officials from different departments in Bengaluru today. During the meeting, Mr. Meena pointed out that different parties have lodged complaints with him on the free distribution of gifts to the voters by different legislators. <br />''<br />''He also said that several media reports have emerged on the incidents of distributing liquor and gift coupons. He urged upon the officials to be vigilant and initiate action against such attempts to influence the voters. He asked the Excise department officials to take action and set up check posts at the inter-state borders.<br />''<br />'' The Enforcement Directorate officials were asked to keep an eye on the transport of illicit money and expensive articles. He directed the department officials to nominate nodal officers to set bases at airports, railway stations and sea ports. He underscored the need to prevent hate speeches that provoke and disturb social harmony.&nbsp; The Chief Electoral Officer also reviewed the progress achieved in the preparations for the forthcoming election.<br />''<br />''The assembly election is due in Karnataka in another three to four months.
