Karnataka Celebrates Deepavali with Religious fervour

The festival of light is celebrated with religious fervour in Karnataka. <br />'' AIR correspondent said, "Like the rest of the country, Karnataka celebrates Deepavali by lighting oil lamps and bursting crackers. However, the festival has special significance and is celebrated with great zeal on Naraka Chaturdashi and Bali Payami. The victory of Lord Krishna over demon Narakasura is celebrated as Narak Chaturdashi and on Bali Padyami, the great emperor of ancient times Bali Chakravarthi is welcomed into homes. Lakshmi puja is also celebrated between Naraka Chaturdasi and Bali Padyami days. Cleaning up homes and taking Oil baths play an important role. Colourful rangoli adorn the doorsteps. Having feast, wearing new clothes and lighting of the lamps at temples and houses are part of the festivities."<br />'' <br />
