<span style="color: #222222;">The 73rd Republic Day celebration was held at the Field Marshal Manekshaw parade ground in Bengaluru when Governor Thawarchand Gehlot unfurled the national flag and presented his speech on the occasion.  Due to the prevailing Covid 19 situation, only 200 people were invited to the event. However, the parade by 16 contingents of the military, paramilitary, home guards, traffic wardens, the state police, fire and emergency services, and the dog squads amplified the significance of the occasion. Governor Thawarchand Gehlot in his speech listed out the progress achieved by the state under Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. He appreciated the state Government for being recognized by the Government of India for the development of new software for monitoring the spread of Covid through Covid War Room. He noted that use of advanced technology has resulted in less number of deaths in Karnataka due to Covid. Further, the Governor said that use of mobile and technology-based crop surveys has been accomplished successfully in the state. Karnataka, he said, stands first in the horticulture sector, second in milk production, and first in the country for having the highest number of 6049 elephants in the country.</span>
