Karnataka Cabinet ratifies various draft bills, Amendments

The Karnataka State Cabinet has ratified various draft bills and Amendments that will be presented in the Legislative session that begins on 24th this month. Briefing the media in Bangalore today, Higher Education Minister Dr. V S Acharya informed that Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2007, Karnataka Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other Backward Classes (Reservation of Appointment)(Amendment) Bill 2009, Land Acquisition(Amendment) Bill, 2009, Karnataka Panchayat Raj(Amendment) Bill 2011 are some of the Bill that will be introduced or reviewed in the forthcoming session that will be on till March 17. Dr Acharya also informed that Integrated Agriculture marketing policy was submitted to the cabinet today. The policy will integrate agri activities such as processing, storage, transport, marketing and export to benefit the farmers and provide necessary linkages to the agriculture sector. The Minister also informed that retirement age of Angandwadi workers and helpers has been fixed at 60 years. After retirement Angandwadi worker will get gratuity of 50,000 rupees and allowance of Rs.500 every month and the helpers will get Rs.30,000 gratuity and Rs.350 as retirement allowance. To avail this benefit the workers and helpers need to contribute nominal amount every month during their service period. After the Cabinet briefing Dr. Acharya also informed that the Government is planning to enhance payment of Guest Lecturers from Rs.5000 to Rs.10,000.
