In Karnataka, the Cabinet met today to discuss the future course of action following Supreme Court order to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. <br/><br/>Prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC have been extended in five taluks of Mysuru. Ban orders have also been clamped around the four major reservoirs of Cauvery basin. The Mandya district administration has closed the Brindavan Gardens at KRS for tourists till 27th September. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, the ongoing agitation in Mandaya, Mysuru and Ramnagara in the Cauvery basin against the Supreme court directive to the state to release 6000 cusecs of water till September 27 spread to Thmakuru and Kolar Districts too. In Mandya and in other parts of the district some shops and business establishments have voluntarily closed. The district administration has declared a holiday today for all schools and colleges owing to the Cauvery agitations in Mandya, Maddur, Pandavapura, and Srirangapatna taluks.<br/><br/>The Karnataka Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T.B.Jayachandra said that the Karnataka's future course of action on the Cauvery water issue will be decided only after the meeting of floor leaders. Briefing newsmen after an emergent meeting of the Council of Ministers he said any decision on the Cauvery issue would be taken only after the meeting of floor leaders scheduled this evening. BJP is not participating in the all party meeting which is underway now. Speaking to newsmen in Kadur in Chikmagalur district, BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa asked the State Government to convene a special session of State Legislature to discuss the Cauvery river water dispute. <br/><br/>Former Prime Minister and JD(S) National President H D Devegowda today urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reject Supreme Court direction to set up Cauvery Water Management Board (CWMB). The Supreme Court, while directing Karnataka to release 6000 cusecs of water from river Cauvery to Tamil Nadu daily till September 27, had directed the Union Government to set up CWMB within four weeks to supervise release of water. <br/><br/>Talking to newsmen in Bengaluru today , Mr Deve Gowda claimed that the Supreme Court had overstepped its jurisdiction. Instead of restricting its decision on release of water, the Apex Court has gone one step ahead and had directed to form the Board. It should be rejected by the Prime Minister he said.
