Karnataka BJP rebels set July 5 deadline

The crisis in Karnataka BJP deepened today with rebel faction led by V S Yeddyurappa setting a July 5 deadline for replacing D V Sadanand Gowda as the Chief Minister with their nominee Jagdish Shettar. Talking to reporters in Bangalore, Minister Raju Gowda said that they will wait till July 5 and if their demands are not addressed, the High Command will be responsbile for the consequences. Nine Ministers, loyal to the former Chief Minister Yeddyurappa, have submitted their resignations two days ago.

AIR Bangalore Correspondent reports that the Chief Minister Sadanand Gowda is likely to visit Delhi on Monday to meet Central leadership of the Party in a bid to resolve the crisis. Before leaving for New Delhi, this morning, Party General Secretary In-Charge of Karnataka Affairs, Dharmendra Pradhan reiterated that the crisis will be resolved at the earliest. H

e said, he will apprise the Central leaders about the latest position. State Party President K. S. Eeshwarappa said that he was upset over the faction feud in the party and hoped that the problem will be resolved within a fortnight.
