In Karnataka, normal life was affected in Mandya following a bandh called by Mandya District Farmers’ Welfare Committee. The bandh was called in protest against release of Cauvery water to Tamilnadu. Shops, schools, colleges, banks and Government offices remained closed. Police had tightened their security in the district.The State is releasing 10,000 cusecs of cauvery water to Tamilnadu as a goodwill measure. The Farmers’ Committee has asked the State Government to effectively present the state's case before the Cauvery River Tribunal meeting to be held on 19th this month under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister. Karnataka is facing drought in over 146 taluks due to failure of South west monsoon.
