Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka R Ashoka is visiting Assam and Manipur today to appeal the students and workers of the northeast to return to Bangalore without any fear. He held discussions with Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in Guwahati. Both the leaders discussed the issue and their probable solutions. The Deputy Chief Minister will also meet the people and guardians of the students who left Bangalore in the wake of SMS threat.
Meanwhile, the Kokrajhar district administration has relaxed curfew in district from 4 am to 9 pm today. People in good number came out from their houses to buy their essentials. A strict vigil is being maintained by the security forces.
Talking to AIR, State Home Secretary GD Tripathi said instruction had been given to the district administrations to set up temporary relief camps so that educational institutions can be reopened from September 1.
The Central Team in their recent visit to the violence-hit areas asked the State Chief Secretary to do the same. The Assam Government will also approach Railway Minister Mukul Roy to ensure security of passengers who are returning home from other states.
