Karnatak HC reserves Judgement in BJP MLAs' disqualification case

The Third Judge Justice V G Sabhahit of Karnataka High Court has reserved the Judgement on a case of 11 disqualified BJP MLAs. After hearing the arguments and submissions made by Lawyers on both sides today the Judge reserved the Judgement.The 11 BJP MLAs disqualified by the Speaker for submitting to the Governor a letter of withdrawal of support to the Yeddyurappa Government in Karnataka had appealed in the Karnataka High court against the decision. The Division Bench comprising of Chief Justice J S Khehar and N Kumar had given divergent view on the matter. Thereafter, the case was refered to the third Judge Justice V G Sabhahit.Senior Council Soli Sorabjee and Satyapal Jain defending the Government, argued that the actions and the negotiations of the disqualified BJP MLAs with the leaders of the Opposition parties establish beyond doubt their intentions. The Lawyers for thepetitioners, however, argued that it was only an expression of dissent against so called corrupt Chief Minister.
