The first ever Kargil International Marathon "Run for Sarhad" concluded today with more than 800 runners from all the over the world participating in the event. People of all age groups participated in various formats of the race. <br/><br/>The marathon started from Tourist Facilitation Centre (TFC) Kargil and concluded at the same venue covering Drass War Memorial, Kaksar Harka Bahadur and much more. Divyang students of Munshi Habibullah School also participated in the marathon.<br/><br/>Major DP Singh, the first blade runner of India, also participated in the marathon. The marathon was organised by Sarhad Pune, Run Buddies, SEWAK, All Kargil Tour and Travel Association, SEMOK etc, with support from LAHDC Kargil and Indian Army.<br/><br/><br/>Talking to media, Major D.P. Singh expressed his happiness for getting chance to run once again in Kargil. He said there should be no wars at all as wars bring no solution to any issue. The winner of 60 km run Zaheer Abass, a Local lad who ran and won 60 km in less than 6 hours said it was his first chance to participate in such an event and he will try to bring Kargil on international map if supported.
