In Karnataka, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Karadi Sanganna has won in Koppal bye-election with a margin of over 12,000 votes. The bypoll was necessitated to fill up the vacancy caused by Karadi Sanganna who had resigned the Assembly seat won on a JD(S) ticket in 2008 polls and defected to BJP. Karadi Sanganna bagged over 57,000 votes and Congress candidate Basavaraj Hitnal got 45,000 votes. The Janata Dal-Secular candidate Pradeep Patil got 19,000 votes.
