In Karnataka, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Karadi Sanganna has won in Koppal bye-election with a margin of over 12,000 votes. The bye-poll was necessitated to fill up the vacancy caused by Karadi Sanganna who had resigned the seat won on a JD(S) ticket in 2008 polls and defected to BJP.Karadi Sanganna bagged over 57,000 votes to Congress candidate Basavaraj Hitnal's nearly 45,000 votes. The Janata Dal-Secular was way behind with its nominee Pradeep Patil getting just over 19,000 votes.
