In Pakistan, the death toll in Karachi has gone up to 42 in two days of gang violence. Among the victims was a former MP of the ruling PPP. According to the police, the trouble, which started from Lyari and its adjoining areas in old Karachi on Wednesday, escalated after Waja Karim Dad, a former member of Pakistan National Assembly and four of his associates were gunned down while sitting at a restaurant to break their Ramzan fast last evening.Lyari and its adjoining areas have for months now been badly affected by gang wars between high- profile criminals and political parties accusing each other of patronising these gangs.
