Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal was today given additional charge of Law Ministry while Road and Transport Minister C P Joshi was given the Railways portfolio, following resignation of Ashwani Kumar and Pawan Kumar Bansal last night. A Rashtrapati Bhawan communique made these announcements after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh recommended these changes to President Pranab Mukherjee, who accepted the resignations of Kumar and Bansal. Pawan Kumar Bansal had resigned following the CBI arrest of his nephew on bribery charges, while Aswini Kumar stepped down amidst raging controversy over his vetting the CBI status report on coal block allocations case.
