Kanpur engineering College lodges criminal cases against 14 students

In Uttar Pradesh a Kanpur based high profile government-run engineering and Technology College has lodged criminal cases against 14 students on charges of forgery. Quoting official sources AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that Harcourt Butler Technological Institute HBTI has detected discrepancies in documents submitted by more than 50 students admitted in the first year of engineering last year. HBTI administration had lodged FIR against 26 students five months earlier during last year for cheating and dishonestly and forgery. With this, the number of students of HBTI booked so far has reached 40. Local police has set up a special investigation team to probe the matter and also to ascertain whether any organised syndicate has been working behind the instances of forgery in the admission.
