In Gujarat, Asia's first Free Trade Zone, Kandla Free Trade Zone is celebrating its 46th foundation day today. AIR Bhuj Correspondent reports that, 182 units are functioning in the 1000 acre of land spread in this zone. The total export for the year 2008-09 from this zone registered at 2420 crore rupees. Inspite of the global recession, the Kandla Free Trade Zone which is now known as Kandla special economic zone has registered the export of 2000 crore rupees till February this year. AIR correspondent reports adds that Kandla Special Economic Zone is one of the 8 economic zone run by the central government in the year. On this occasion today the highest export from the Kandla Special Economic Zone have been awarded for their achievements.
