In Afghanistan, the Mayor of Kandahar Ghulam Haider Hamidi has been killed in an explosion. Officials said an explosion ripped through Municipality department of Kandahar city, the capital of Kandahar province on Wednesday morning, killing the Mayor. Police said he was killed by a suicide bomber. Earlier this month, the half brother of Afghan President Hamid Karzai was killed by his bodyguard in Kandahar.
