Kamala Kant Gautam nominated LC chairperson in UP

In Uttar Pradesh, ruling BSP MLC Kamala Kant Gautam has been nominated chairperson of the Legislative Council. He will be replacing Sukhram Singh Yadav of Samajwadi Party.<br/><br/>AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that after results of recent biennial elections of the Council the BSP has secured majority in the Legislative Council. The BSP took its tally to 56 in the 100-member House. The Samajwadi Party which had 35 members before the polls is now left with only 14.<br/><br/>Exercising his Constitutional powers, Governor B.L. Joshi has nominated Mr. Gautam as the Chairperson of the Upper House till the time a new chairperson is elected. It is for the first time that a BSP MLC has been nominated for the post.<br/><br/>The budget session of the State legislature will commence from 21st of this month. The Governor will address the joint sitting of both the Houses of Legislature on the opening day of first session of the Legislature in this year. Budget proposals for the next financial year would be passed during the session.<br/><br/> <br/><br/> <br/>
