Olympian Achanta Sharath Kamal bowed out in third round as India's challenge in men's and women's singles came to an end on fifth day of the 19th Asian Table Tennis Championships in Lucknow on Friday.Sharath suffered a 0-4 thrashing at the hands of Japanese Mizutani Jun in a lop-sided encounter on the fifth day of the tournament.Sharath's compatriot Sourav Chakraborty lost to Ko Lai Chak of Hong Kong in the third round to bring curtains on the home side's fight in men's singles.Earlier in the day, Indian women's singles challenge also ended miserably in second round with seven paddlers including national champion Kumaresan Shamini crashing out.However, Indians performed better in the doubles events.Sharath and Sourav entered men's doubles pre-quarterfinal after beating Malaysians MS Ibrahim and CK Beng 3-1 and they will take on Jiang Tianyi and Tang Peng of Hong Kong today.
