Former Parliamentary Affairs Minister and senior Congress leader Kamal Nath has been appointed as the Protem Speaker in the new Lok Sabha.
Official sources told our correspondent that President Pranab Mukherjee has appointed Kamal Nath to perform the duties of Protem Speaker from the commencement of the sitting of the Lok Sabha till the election of the Speaker. The new government had recently recommended to the President to appoint Mr. Nath, who is the senior most member of the Lok Sabha, as Protem Speaker.
The first session of 16th Lok Sabha will begin on Wednesday. During the first two day of the session, the newly elected MPs will be administered the oath and on 6th June the election of Lok Sabha Speaker will take place. On 9th June, President will address the joint sitting of Parliament. The session of Rajya Sabha will begin on the same day after the joint sitting.
