Kalpana Devi Thoudam becomes first Indian judoka to clinch World Cup medal

Kalpana Devi Thoudam has become the first Indian judoka to clinch a World Cup medal by grabbing a bronze in the below 52kg category in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The World Cup, which concluded yesterday, is the official event of the International Judo Federation and one of the Olympic Qualifying events. About 100 judokas from 17 Countries participated in this event.She earlier won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Judo Championships in Singapore and was an Asian junior champion two years ago. Besides, she is also a reigning national champion.
