Kalka Mail accident: CC Railways Safety to probe derailment

The Chief Commissioner of Railway safety Prashant Kumar will begin the investigation of the Kalka Mail train accident case from tomorrow. Railway has issued the instructions to all concerned officers to present before the Commissioner at Kanpur railways office though the cause of the accident is still not known. The Railway sources told AIR that in any case the use of emergency break could not be the cause of major accident. Quoting the injured train drivers Railway spokesperson had said that the drivers had not used the emergency break.Meanwhile, the restoration and repair work are on full swing at damaged railway track. The North central railway spokesperson Sandeep Mathur told our Allahabad correspondent that the wreckage of coaches have been removed from the track. According to railways it is expected that track will be functional today.The railway spokesperson said that about 30 victims have been identified so far. The search operations were completed yesterday in the Kalka Mail accident about 250 passengers got injured though more than 60 passengers with very minor injuries have been discharge after treatment while many other injured are being treated in different hospitals of Kanpur, Fatehpur and in Allahabad. The Uttar Pradesh Governor B.L. Joshi also visited accident site yesterday and met injured passengers in hospitals.
