Kalam urges all political parties to unitedly fight terrorism

Former President A P J Abdul Kalam today said all political parties should declare terrorism as menace for the nation and fight together to combat it. Kalam was addressing a seminar on 'Fight Against Terrorism' organised by Mumbai Police in Mumbai today. <br/>He said terrorism is a national issue and it can be fought with unity of mind. Explaining his vision to fight terrorism, Kalam said terrorism is hampering the progress of the nation. Security agencies should be more alert and a national campaign should be started to tackle the menace.<br/><br/>Stressing that public participation was very important in the fight against terrorism, Kalam said each and every individual should be vigilant and should inform the police about any suspicious objects. He also expressed need to accelerate judicial process to ensure that perpetrators of the attacks are strictly punished in a time-bound manner without losing a sense of justice.<br/><br/>Kalam emphasised on creating National Identity Card for every citizen of the country. He said security agencies must be provided with advanced weapons and technology as terrorists were nowhere behind in these areas.<br/><br/>Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan, State Director General of Police A N Roy, Mumbai Police Commissioner D Sivanandhan, Retired director of Intelligence Bureau Shyamal Datta, National Maritime Foundation and Strategic Analyst Director Uday Bhaskar and veteran journalist M J Akbar were also present in the seminar.<br/>
