Former President A P J Abdul Kalam says, there is no need to worry about the safety of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant as it has been constructed with the most advanced technology.
He said at Paravoor, Kerala that even in the event of a tsunami, the plant will be able to withstand it and safety measures have been taken to prevent radiation.
He was addressing students there after inaugurating 'Sasthrayaan', a pioneer project for Quality Science Education.
The former President was replying to a query from a student about the safety of the project.
Asked about the tension between Tamil Nadu and Kerala over the Mullaperiyar dam, he said the issue could be settled through discussions between the two Chief Ministers.
The 'Sasthrayaan' project will cover about 7,000 students and 250 teachers in 21 schools at Paravoor constituency of Ernakulam district.
Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy presided over the function.
