Former President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam has called for the development of an e-judiciary system, by adopting technology tools for the delivery of speedy justice. He was addressing a function convened to confer the Honorary Degree of Laws of the National University of Advanced Legal Studies to former Supreme Court Judge, Justice V R Krishna Iyer in Kochi this evening.Dr Kalam said e-judiciary will further enhance the efficiency of the judicial system and transform the courts into a better focussed system in meeting the needs of the citizens. He noted that e-judiciary will lead to real time availability of authentic information, besides improvement in overall productivity and reduction in multiple levels of appeal.Dr Kalam also urged political leaders to ensure that processes of power are not used to circumvent the law of the land. He said the country's education system should promote legal literacy through formal and informal mechanisms, particularly for the rural community.
