Former president A P J Abdul Kalam has advocated for setting up of more schools across the country for mentally challenged children. Addressing a function in Mumbai, he said, such institutions will give a fillip to their confidence and abilities. He also said there is a need to train teachers to handle these special students.<br/><br/>Dr Kalam also suggested that mentally challenged children must be enrolled in special schools rather than delaying their admission. He said, the parents of special children must admit their wards in special schools to ensure that they get right training in the right atmosphere at the right time.
