Kailash Satyarthi concerned about poor conviction rate in child trafficking cases

Noble laureate Kailash Satyarthi has expressed concern on the poor conviction rate in terms of child trafficking. Talking to newsmen in Guwahati today, he said that below 1 percent of total identified cases resulted in conviction in trafficking. Mr. Satyarthi said that he will continue to put pressure to appoint dedicated officer in every police station to deal with the menace of child trafficking. He said that the North East has become the trafficking hub during past a few years. <br/><br/>He announced to set up a rehabilitation and welfare fund in Assam to offer help rescued children from trafficking or as bonded labourers. He said that Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi assured to provide 1 crore rupees in this cause. Mr. Satyarthi said that this will be the first centre of this kind in the country under the Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation.
