Taliban militants armed with heavy and light weapons attacked the Kabul International Airport in Afghanistan this morning.

Eyewitnesses said the militants took over an unused building near the heavily guarded airport. Afghan authorities , however said that they have brought the situation under control , killing all insurgents involved.

Taliban has taken the responsibility for carrying out the attack.

The airport attack comes two days after at least 42 people were killed in a suicide attack at a market in Paktika province in the east of the country.
