Kabaddi World Cup: India stunned by South Korea in opener

In the Kabaddi World Cup, seven-time champions India failed to make a positive start to their campaign as they were stunned 32-34 by South Korea in the opening match in Ahmedabad yesterday evening. It was an extraordinary effort by Korea, who came back strongly at the death to clinch a thrilling win over favourites India. India were in the lead for most of the contest but Korea managed to reduce India's lead to three points at the fag end of the match. In another match, titled contenders Iran kick off their opening match with a thumping 51-15 win over United States. The US, who are playing first ever Kabaddi world cup, was out played by the Iranians from the beginning.Twelve Kabaddi teams from around the world including India, US, England, Australia, Iran, Poland, Bangladesh, South Korea, Thailand, Japan and Kenya are participating in the event.The final will be played on October 22.There are 3 matches scheduled for today – India v/s Australia, England v/s Bangladesh and Poland v/s Kenya.
