The Food and Public Distribution minister Prof. K V Thomas has said the government has decided to further strengthen the Food Corporation of India (FCI) to ensure country's food security. He said the UPA government recognises the large-scale operations of procurement and distribution of the foodgrains by FCI to the billions of the people across the country.

The Minister, who reviewed the sports and cultural activities of the Corporation at a function in New Delhi today, said FCI has not only been ensuring food security but also contributing towards grooming of medal-winning sportspersons.
