K Sangma expresses displeasure over tardy progress of PMGSY in Meghalaya

Announcing a World Bank funding of 1,071 crore rupees for road connectivity in Meghalaya, Union Minister of State for Rural Development Agatha K Sangma on Monday expressed her displeasure over the tardy progress of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in the state. Ms Sangma, who arrived in Shillong on Monday morning, pulled up the Meghalaya officials for delay in the implementation of the Central scheme projects during her review meeting with them. Quoting officials for tardy progress of PMGSY scheme, Ms Sangma said lack of man power in the PMGSY cell and short period of working conditions are the main causes of the delay. She, however, exuded confidence that the state government have the potential to improve the implementation of the PMGSY scheme.
