Government and the Private sector would work together for ensuring security of computer networks and systems in the country while keeping democratic freedom intact. National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon yesterday said this in New Delhi after releasing the report of the Joint Working Group, JWG on Engagement with Private Sector on Cyber Security.
Mr. Menon said recent incidents of spread of misinformation on the social media necessitated the need to strengthen efforts for cyber security. Our correspondent reports that keeping this in view the Government decided to set up a JWG to work out details of the roadmap for engagement with the private sector on cyber security. The JWG, chaired by Deputy National Security Advisor Latha Reddy included representatives of the Government as well as the private sector. It recommended creation of Information Sharing and Analysis Centres in various industry verticals by the private sector. The JWG suggested that training should be provided to Law Enforcement Agencies in cyber crime investigation and cyber forensics. It also recommended promoting and dissemination of cyber security awareness among the public.
