Jute workers call off 61-day old strike in W Bengal

In West Bengal, the ongoing 61 days old strike of the jute workers was today called off. Work will start in the jute mill from the 14th of this month. A tripartide meating was held today at the state Secretariat between the resprentive of the jute workers and the mill owners and the state level minister Mr.Anadi Sahu. It was agreed that the dearness allowance of the jute workers will be paid with retrospective effect in six istallments within a span of three years. It may be recalled that 20 jute workers unions had called for an indefinite strike from the 14th of December last year on demand of better wages and on speedy payment of dues.
