Supreme Court Judge P Sathasivam will be the next Chief Justice of India (CJI). Press Secretary to the President, Venu Rajamony told AIR today that President Pranab Mukherjee has given his nod for the appointment of Mr. Sathasivam as the new Chief Justice after the superannuation of present CJI, Altamas Kabir's tenure which ends on the 18th of next month.
64-year-old Sathasivam had joined as a permanent Judge of the Madras High Court in January, 1996 after which he was transferred to the Punjab and Haryana High Court in April, 2007. He was appointed as a Supreme Court Judge in August, 2007.
