Justice Altamas Kabir will be the new Chief Justice of India. A Law Ministry statement issued in New Delhi yesterday said that he will assume the new charge on 29th of this month.

Justice Kabir assumed the office of Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court in 2005 and was made a judge of the Supreme Court of India in the same year.
