Indian grapplers were off to a disappointing start on the opening day of the Junior World Championship at Pattaya, Thailand, today. They lost in all the four contested weight categories in the Greco Roman segment. While in the 50 kg category, Vikram Krushnath Kurade lost to Tolgahan Karatas of Turkey 0-3 in the pre-quarterfinals, India's much fancied grappler in the GrecoRoman section, Ravinder Khatri (74kg) was humbled by Armenia's Karapet Chalyan within first two periods in the round of 16 with a 0-3 scoreline. Ravinder had managed to win his initial bout against Austria's Michael Wagner 3-0.Meanwhile, Manish (60kg) also lost his prequarterfinal bout to Moldova's Maxim Mamulat 1-3. Earlier, he opened his campaign on a positive note, beating Rikiya Matsuzawa of Japan 3-0. In the 96kg weight category, Sunil failed to overcome Azerbaijan's Abas Abdullayev after getting a bye in the round of 32. A total of 23 Indian wrestlers, including seven women, are in the fray at the Junior World Championship.While eight of the wrestlers will be contesting in the Greco Roman, another eight will be battling it out in the freestyle category.
