Emergency medical services in Andhra Pradesh have been affected at all government teaching hospitals across the state due to junior doctors’ strike. Hundreds of patients, including accident cases, are suffering due to lack of emergency medical services at these 13 teaching hospitals as most of them are referral hospitals.Demanding a hike in their stipend and better facilities at emergency wards, the junior doctors have been agitating since January 11. Expressing dissatisfaction over the government apathy over resolving their problems, junior doctors have boycotted the emergency services throughout the state since Friday evening.Meanwhile, the State Government has been making alternate arrangements to provide emergency services at all these hospitals. State medical education minister Murali Mohan called upon the junior doctors to come for discussion after calling off the strike.
