In Bangladesh, a Judicial Commission, formed to probe the violence after the 2001 parliamentary elections, has found evidence of 3,625 such incidents across the country during the rule of the BNP-led 4-party alliance government. The three member commission submitted its report to Home Minister Sahara Khatun in Dhaka on Sunday.The judicial commission’s report which probed the post poll violence of 2001 has found evidence in 3625 incidents of major crimes, including killing, rape, arson and looting. According to local media reports the commission has found that most of these crimes were committed against Awami League supporters and persons mostly belonging of the minority community in Bangladesh. The commission has reportedly found evidence that activists and leaders of the BNP and its ally the Jamaat -E- islami which had won the elections in that year were responsible for the violence. The judicial commission has submitted its report to the Bangladesh Home Minister Sahara Khatun who has assured that legal action will be taken against those involved for the post poll violence.
