Judicial appointments expedited in last three years: Ravi Shankar Prasad

Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Thursday said judicial appointments have been expedited in the last three years. <br/><br/>Addressing media in New Delhi on the initiatives taken by his Ministry, he said, 17 judges have been appointed in the Supreme Court and 232 judges in High Courts during the period. He said, the digital platform has been widely used to provide timely justice to people. <br/><br/>Mr Prasad said, significant rise in e-Courts transactions shows government's move towards digital judiciary. A high level committee has been constituted to develop India as an international arbitration hub. He said, 2249 crore rupees have been released in three years for infrastructure improvement in subordinate judiciary. Mr Prasad said, cyber coordination centre will be established soon to improve cyber security in the country. <br/><br/>Replying to a media query on Mukul Rohatgi who has offered to resign from the post of Attorney General, Mr Prasad said, his ministry has taken note of the letter written by Mr Rohatgi. He said, his ministry will take appropriate step and decision in this regard. <br/><br/>The Minister said, Mr Rohtagi may have offered to resign for personal reasons. He appreciated the role of Mr Rohtagi as country's Attorney General.
