West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee dismissed the Maoist letter on their ceasefire withdrawal and said joint-operations would be intensified against the ultras. Ms Banerjee told this to a regional news channel, condemning the killing of two party workers at Balarampur in Purulia, yesterday. Ms Banerjee also launched a tirade against Maoist sympathisers operating from Kolkata, including two Jadavpur University professors. She said those who are trying to glorify the Maoists would be arrested. Her comment came as the Maoist State Secretary in a letter to one of the government-appointed interlocutors said, the tenure of the agreement between Government and the Ultras has ended. The two sides had agreed to maintain ceasefire, provided the government suspend the joint forces' operation for a month.
