Jt.Council of Bus Syndicate and Bengal Bus Syndicate decide for indefinite strike

The Joint Council of Bus Syndicate and the Bengal Bus Syndicate has jointly decided to go an indefinite bus strike from 9th of this month with the demand of increasing bus-fares in the light of recent hike in diesel prices. Talking to newspersons at the Writers’ Buildings in Kolkata today, the West Bengal Transport Minister Mr. Madan Mitra said that, the propose strike will not lead to any solution. He said that, the State Government is ready for discussions with the Bus Syndicates and that an amicable solution can be arrived at through discussions only. At meeting that the situation has become difficult for bus owners to ply their vehicles at the face of the fuel price hike Mr. Madan Mitra ask the bus owners to consider the plight of the common man in case of a bus strike. He said, the Group of Ministers (GoM) for transport, which is due to meet in the first week this month will discuss issues not just related to fares but about the entire transport scenario.
