In Jordan, King Abdullah has dismissed his cabinet and appointed a new Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit. The move came after thousands of protestors had demanded the resignation of former PM Samir Rifai and action on rising prices and unemployment. Earlier, former PM Samir Rifai resigned on Tuesday following weeks of protests. The palace statement said that the king had accepted Mr. Rifai's resignation. New PM Marouf Bakhit has been charged with carrying out true political reforms.
