Jordan has sought Election Commission of India’s assistance in election management and electoral reforms. The request was made by Jordanian Prime Minister Awn Khasawneh to the visiting Chief Election Commissioner of India, Dr. S.Y. Quraishi at their meeting in Amman.
An Election commission release says that Mr. Quraishi has assured Amman, New Delhi’s support in its ongoing efforts to develop election laws and management structure. The Commission also offered the Jordanian side training facilities by Election Commission of India at the newly India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management while suggesting that the training can take place either in India or that country or at both places.
