Jordanian Prime Minister Samir Rifai resigned on Tuesday following weeks of protests by Jordanians calling on the government to step down. State-run petra news agency said King Abdullah II of Jordan tasked Marouf Bakhit to form the new government. Bakhit, a former prime minister, also served as Jordan's ambassador in Israel.
