Jordan and the United Arab Emirates were elected as members of the International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA’s board of governors for the coming two years. According to official Emirates news agency, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the IAEA Hamad Ali Al Ka'abi, described the selection of the UAE to the Board of Governors of IAEA as a significant step and a great opportunity to play a role in the decision-making in the important global forum. He said UAE will support the Agency in achieving its goals, strengthen its role in working on nuclear non-proliferation and international expansion in the field of clean energy use and the peaceful use of atomic energy. The appointment of new board members is one of the key agenda items of the IAEA's annual general conference.
