The Joint Committee on Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 will be in Assam on a two day visit on 2nd and 3rd November. The visit is in response to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal's request to the Chairman of the Committee Satyapal Singh during his last visit to New Delhi. <br/><br/>The Joint Committee will conduct hearing in Guwahati to gather views of various organisations and stakeholders regarding the Citizenship Amendment Bill. The proposed bill has the provision of giving citizenship to minority communities of a few neighbouring countries including Bangladesh.
