The issue of alleged suicide of a Dalit student of the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Muthukrishnan, was raised in both Houses of Parliament today.<br/><br/>In the Lok Sabha, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said, the death has aggrieved all. He said, the Delhi police are investigating the incident and suitable action will be taken.<br/><br/>Earlier, raising the issue in the House, AIADMK member Elumalai said there are perceived discrimination of Dalit students and those from South India. He pointed out to the death of a post graduate medical student from Tamil Nadu at AIIMS in New Delhi saying he died under mysterious circumstances.<br/><br/>In the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitaraman said, she had met the father, local guardian and fellow students of the deceased JNU student in AIIMS. <br/><br/>She said, she has briefed the Union Home Minister about the incident and assured that all out efforts would be made to make the Universities a better place for all who pursue their studies, irrespective of their backgrounds.<br/><br/>Earlier, raising the issue in the House, KL Punia of the Congress said the allocation to SC and ST should be in proportion to their population. Several other opposition members also spoke on the issue.<br/>
