Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said that the Jawahlal Nehru University stir received support from Lashkar-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Saeed and this needs to be understood by the nation. He asked political parties not to view such protests through the prism of political gains or losses.<br/><br/>Speaking to media persons in Allahabad, the Union Home Minister said, never should have something been done which puts a question mark over the country's sovereignty and integrity.<br/><br/>Asked about the investigation regarding the JNU incident, he said, necessary instructions have been given to the authorities concerned, adding that he had made one thing clear that those who are found guilty should face action but the ones who are not, should not be harassed at any cost.<br/><br/>His comments came two days after a series of tweets, purportedly by Saeed, had appeared under a hashtag asking Pakistanis to support the agitation in JNU.<br/><br/>Police are investigating as to whether the twitter handle actually belonged to the LeT founder.<br/><br/>Mr. Singh was in the city on a brief visit, to meet West Bengal Governor and senior party colleague Keshri Nath Tripathi and condole the death of his wife who passed away a fortnight ago while undergoing treatment at the AIIMS, New Delhi.<br/><br/>CPI-M General Secretary Sitaram Yechury has said the Home Minister Rajnath Singh should share the evidence he has with the country to back up his claim that JNU stir was support by Lashkar-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Saeed.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, JNU Teachers Association criticized the arrest of Kanhaiya Kumar, President of JNU Student Union on sedition charges. The Teachers Association said, the campus has always opposed any unconstitutional activity.<br/><br/>In another development, the JNU students and teachers formed human chain to protest police action at JNU campus. The JNU students also staged protest at Jantar Mantar in the national capital.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, JNU Vice-Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar in a statement requested everyone to help focus on the main objective of providing high quality education without any interference. He said, maintaining a conducive academic environment in the campus should be the primary concern of the University.<br/><br/>A Home Ministry spokesperson said in New Delhi today that Home Minister Rajnath Singh's statement that the JNU event had received "support" from terror outfit LeT founder Hafiz Saeed was based on inputs from "different agencies". The spokesperson, however did not elaborate on this.
