JKHPMC approves eight new projects

In order to give further impetus to the horticulture production in J&K State, Board of Directors (BoDs) for Jammu and Kashmir Horticulture Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation (JKHPMC) has approved eight new projects, involving a cost of Rs. 17.3 crore under Centrally Sponsored Schemes. The projects were approved at 54th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Corporation held in Jammu under the Chairmanship of Minister for Horticulture, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma. These will be sent to Government of India for funding. The meeting also approved one Cold Storage at Narwal Mandi, Jammu estimated to cost Rs. 2 crore, thus conceding long pending demand of the local fruit growers. A target of Rs. 10 crore turnovers was set for the Corporation for the year 2010-11. The meeting was apprised that the Corporation has registered a turnover of Rs. 7.38 crore against the target of Rs. 9 crore during the current financial year till January.
